Spring is in the air, and that can only mean that the Masters golf tournament and the opening of the golf season is almost upon us. With the winter layoff, unless your one of the lucky ones that live in a warm weather winter climate. it’s time to blow off the dust and get ready to play golf.
Let’s take a moment to asses your game.
1. What percentage of fairways do you hit?
2. What is your percentage of greens in regulation?
3. Do you have birdie opportunities on most of the par 5′s?
4. Are you able to generate “Effortless Power” when you swing a golf club? This Effortless power can be elusive and is the key to playing and scoring well.
Whether you are a Weekend Warrior or you play competitive golf, you can improve your game, shoot better scores and get more enjoyment out of your time playing golf.
How much fun is it to be looking for your golf ball in the weeds all the time?
So, what are going to be your goals for the up coming season? What areas of your game are you going to focus and work on?
Do you have a good understanding of the fundamentals of golf?
I’ve gotten several calls this week from people who play at my golf club looking to work on their game and that reminded me that we need to begin our golf training programs right now! We would recommend that your spend a few moments now to set some pre-season goals and develop your practice and training programs to get to most form your gold game once you get to the course.
Game improvement is a combination of swing training, golf fitness training, course management and focusing on the fundamentals of the golf swing. The fundamentals haven’t changed since the very beginning of the game.
Develop a sound grip
Have an athletic balanced stance
make a great shoulder turn
Swing through the ball
Use the “Big muscles” of the body to swing the golf club.
Use the power of Leverage to Blast the ball – Learning how to use leverage is the single most elusive skill that most weekend golfers never master and is your master key to unlocking the best golf of your life. I have worked with and played golf with people who have played for years, even decades and they never learned how to master the leverage in the golf swing!
How to you teach someone to “Feel” a certain way in the golf swing? That’s why it’s the missing link in most weekend golfers swing.
Do these things, learn to use the power of Leverage, you will dominate your foursome and keep your wallet in your pocket at the 19th hole.
Have Fun and lets play golf!
Golf is a timeless game, but today the average players score is no better then is was 20 years ago.
Ever wonder why?
Sadly, Most recreational players never master the one simple old school power move that is CRITICAL to making sound contact with the golf ball, hitting longer, more accurate shots and shooting very good scores.
Don’t take my word for it, See for yourself, go to http://powergolf.webs.com/index.htm and take a look, I have included 1 old swing diagram from Doc’s golf manual to show you one part of swing drills in the manual.
